-- 2022 (28 drawings)
In November of 2022, after 20 year hiatus, I decided to come back to fine art. My original childhood passion.
Though I love painting, I restrained from this medium. With painting there is a considerable prep and clean-up and I didn't want to use those time-consuming acts as an excuse not to engage in the art. Instead, I chose drawing. There seems nothing more "pure" than a blank sheet of paper and a few markers.
I had no excuses anymore.
My first drawings were inspired by the picturesque town just north of New York City situated on the banks of the Hudson River where we moved for my children's schooling.

-- 2023 [18+] (140 drawings)
I worked feverishly as I tried to catch up on the lost time of being away from making art for 20 year. In one year I've made almost 150 drawings.
My themes crystalized into a few general subjects: views of the town towards the Hudson River (see those here); views away from the river (here), often exploring seemingly prosaic views; views along the train tracks (here) that I took commuting between my office and the 2nd home upstate. I dabbed into still-life momentarily, but it never took off. (here)
Formally, I played with abstraction of the lines searching for balance of form and content.
Mid-year, I started drawing nudes (some quite erotic in nature). (here)
As my line work got more and more abstract, the forms got looser and looser. The underlying themes were becoming just an excuse for a play on textures. As the subjects became less important, I looked to neighborhoods of the city as pseudo-inspiration to commit a drawing. A series of seemingly inconsequential cityscapes was created. (here)
As my real-life inspirations were turning oblivious, I started getting bored my with linework too. Many of my drawings got more abstract and shapes became more disjointed and airy. (here)

-- 2024 [18+] (66 drawings)
Detachment of form from subject, brought me back to the classics. I made drawings based on historical masterpieces that affected me at some point of growing up. (here and here)
The format of drawings got larger, doubling in size from the previous years.
I kept making nudes. Some became more explicit. (more here)
Many of the “historical masterpieces” turned out to be nudes too. Making an attractive drawing came very easy to me - that got me to intellectually understand those artists who experimented with a human form past desire to create beauty. I started to appreciate "the ugly" as a way to pull self out of the comfort of familiarity.

-- 2025 [18+] (55 drawings)
-- 2026
In the year to come I want to experiment with:
---> bring more abstraction to the human figure
--->
create a series of drawings based on myths and religious texts
---> create the surface of a drawing via shapes rather than textures
